ESD currently supports major shipyards, acting as their Technical Representative to negotiate newbuild Cable Lay Vessel contracts. The scope can include the complete Mission Equipment suite sourced from one or more OEM suppliers. ESD’s knowledge of different global OEM suppliers ensures optimum choice of equipment to meet technical specifications at minimum cost. ESD will often be asked to oversee the full build program, including deck layout, carousel size and location, equipment sizing, specification writing, technical and project management, followed by support on manufacturing inspection, installation, commissioning, and offshore trials of the CLV. Shipyards and end customers do not usually have in-house expertise, in which case this service is a key enabler for them.
